Caney Valley After School Program
Donation protected
The Caney Valley Elementary (CVE) in Ochelata, Oklahoma is in need of support. The five year grant that sponsored the after school program for grades Pre K- Five, has not been renewed and now families are suffering because of it.
In hopes to continue the safe, child orientated and curriculum based program, CVE has to charge $80 per child and that is at times not covering the cost of the program. After meeting with the Principal and Superintendent of schools it has become ...apparent that we need the community’s help to make this program to continue.
CVE is a Title 1 School and 70% of students are on reduced or free lunches, so an $80 a month afterschool fee per child is not possible for many families which in turn causes children who are young having to fend for themselves for two to three hours; which anything can happen in that amount of time.
After having a roundtable discussion, we came up with a plan that could benefit everyone involved. If a total of $7,000 in donations is collected for the months of January-May or $1400/month, the program can continue to stay open and parents will only pay a fee of $20 per child. The school cannot fundraise for this, but we as citizens of the Caney Valley Area Communities, Washington county and surrounding counties, can help out to insure the safety of the little people in our world.
Every little bit will help and the Ramona Chamber of Commerce and City of Ramona have already made donations. Additional donations may be made on this gofundme page or to Caney Valley Public Schools, Attn: After School Program and mailed to, Caney Valley School, PO Box 410, Ramona, OK 74061. All donations are tax deductible.
